Rank Info


Lil Dragons is a 16-18 month program for 3, 4, & 5 year-olds that focuses on preparing the student for the Juniors Program. Each training cycle, the Dragon will study one of the 8 different skills and must aquire its stripe in order to graduate to their next Lil Dragon rank.
Responsibilities:
  • Earning 1 of 8 skill stripes - (Focus, Teamwork, Control, Balance, Memory, Discipline, Fitness, & Coordination)

White Belts
White Belt is the very beginning of a long journey for a TaeKwonDo Martial Artist. The basic skills learned at this rank will help prepare you for advance skills later on.
Responsibilities:
  • Earning all 8 Stripes
  • Memorizing the tenets of TaeKwonDo - (Courtesy, Integrity, Perserverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit)
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 10

Yellow Belts
As a Yellow Belt, you now need to use the skills you learned as a White Belt and develop a broader knowledge of basic techniques.
Responsibilities:
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 11

Orange Belts
Orange Belts are at the rank in which prepares you for sparring rank of Green Belt through a series of Sparring Combinations.
Responsibilities:
  • Earning all 8 Stripes
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 12

Green Belts
Green Belts now step onto the plataeu of sparring. Developing your sense of speed and control rather than power during engagement is now at the top of your priority.
Responsibilities (Green Belt):
  • Earning all 6 Stripes
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Knowing basic Taekwondo Knowledge - (Meaning of TaeKwonDo, Highest Ranking BlackBelt in Taekwondo America, Meaning of a Dobak, etc…)
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 13

Senior Green Belts have proven that they know and can perform the responsibilities of a Green Belt. Now your goal is to develop what you know and focus to improve your areas that are weak (such as fixing stances in your pattern, or using more combinations in your sparring).
Responsibilities (Senior Green Belt):
Earning all 6 Stripes
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Knowing basic Taekwondo Knowledge - (Meaning of TaeKwonDo, Highest Ranking BlackBelt in Taekwondo America, Meaning of a Dobak, etc…)
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 13

Purple Belts
Purple belt Responsibilities (Green Belt):
Earning all 6 Stripes
Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern

Blue Belts
The Belt Belt Pattern has been considered the hardest pattern to learn, but don’t let that intimidate you. Using your knowledge of basic techniques and stances will help you with the movements in this pattern.
Responsibilities (Blue Belt):
Earning all 6 Stripes
Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
Knowing basic Taekwondo Knowledge - (Meaning of TaeKwonDo, Highest Ranking BlackBelt in Taekwondo America, Meaning of a Dobak, etc…)
Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 14

Brown Belts
At the rank of Brown Belt/Sr. Brown Belt, you are now expected to break boards in order to pass your next promotional testings. Your training should focus on techniques that are used to break boards such as the #3 Slide Side Kick or the #2 Front Kick. Going back to the basic techniques is always a good place to start since they are the foundation of every technique that you perform.
Remember: You will not improve your chances of breaking the board by actually practicing breaking the board. Practicing the technique is what will help you break your board.
Responsibilities:
  • Earning all 6 Stripes (Sr. Brown 4 Stripes)
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Knowing your rank’s board breaking requirements.
  • Knowing the patterns and one steps of every rank below yours.
  • Knowing basic Taekwondo Knowledge - (Meaning of TaeKwonDo, Highest Ranking BlackBelt in Taekwondo America, Meaning of a Dobak, etc…)
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 15

Red Belts
You have now acheived the Red Belt/Sr. Red Belt; the last color belt rank before one would test for their Black belt. Thoroughly preparing for your Black Belt testing is critical! Attend your classes and count your regional and national events! From here on your journey as Taekwondo Martial Artist is just beginning…
Responsibilities:
  • Earning all 4 Stripes
  • Knowing the name, meaning, and the number of movements in your pattern
  • Knowing your rank’s board breaking requirements.
  • Knowing the patterns and one steps of every rank below yours.
  • Having your required number of National and Regional Events recorded in your binder.
  • Knowing basic Taekwondo Knowledge - (Meaning of TaeKwonDo, Highest Ranking BlackBelt in Taekwondo America, Meaning of a Dobak, etc…)
  • Must have the minimum* require number of classes: 16
